Detection and control of parking spaces by means of Computer Vision

Finding a free space to park your car in a big city is often difficult, but this task is made much easier with parking space detection and monitoring.

With a real-time implementation using Computer Vision, it is easy to identify not only whether there are free spaces in a car park, but also which spaces are unoccupied.

This project implements an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based system that analyses images and videos of car parks to identify free and occupied parking spaces in real time. The system is able to generate accurate and clear visual results about the status of the car park.

  • High accuracyPrecise identification of free and occupied places, even in complex scenarios.
  • Optimised speed: Fast processing, suitable for real-time implementations.
  • ScalabilityReady to adapt to different types of car parks (aerial views, fixed cameras, etc.).

Real-world applications

This technology has the potential to revolutionise parking management, offering:

  • Improved user experience by reducing the time it takes to search for available spaces.
  • Optimisation of resource management for car park operators.
  • Integration with smart systems for more connected and efficient cities.
