One of the most crucial moments in a student's life is approaching: deciding on their academic and professional future. There will be those who decide what to do before taking the Selectividad and those who leave it all to the last minute.
(even though they approve).
The truth is that, for some time now, in earlier educational spheres, pupils are already beginning to be instilled with a series of aptitudes that will lead to different future university entrance exam decisions compared to now. We are talking about the STEM philosophy applied to new educational competencies, that is to say, the increasing presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, or in other words, scientific-technical disciplines.

If the most in-demand extracurricular activities of recent decades were sports, it's no surprise that children are now opting for robotics or programming techniques. And just as with footballs or basketballs, these new interests are extending beyond the classroom: they have become the star toys for Christmas, birthdays, and other celebrations.
According to the specialist media outlet Xataka, it is interesting to introduce children to the world of programming through games from the early age of 3. This means involving them in what they call computational thinking, rather than programming itself. It is during primary school, when children have already mastered reading and writing, that they can be gradually introduced to programming languages, until they reach adolescence, when personal interests may lead them to become interested in coding and programming, and to begin considering professional ambitions for further education at high school or university/vocational training.
The question is, are universities and educational institutions prepared for these new subjects? Computer engineering or vocational training focused on web programming are not everything to develop as a programmer; students need to feel like protagonists of their learning and for that, they need to be surrounded by the best professionals and the most innovative methodologies.
