Kura: Essential Protection Inspired by Lean Design

In a context where wildfires and climate emergencies are increasingly frequent, the loss of material possessions and personal memories has become a silent tragedy for thousands of families.

Only in the summer of 2025, more than 343,000 hectares burned in Spain and 27,000 people were evacuated from their homes. This scenario reveals the urgency of developing domestic solutions that combine safety, design, and functionality.

A modular system

The development of Kura was based on a Lean Design methodology, prioritising functionality, responsible use of resources, and continuous validation through prototypes.

Kura proposes a modular system as a flexible concept that evolves with space, needs, and time:

  • Wooden exteriorCatchfyre Treatment, biodegradable retardant.
  • Calcium silicate claddingFirst thermal barrier, resistant up to 1100ºC.
  • Rock wool claddingAdditional thermal insulation.
  • Stainless steel claddingCoated with intumescent foam in joints, which seals and blocks heat and smoke.

Kura demonstrates that innovation can save memories, not just objects: a solution that combines design, security, and climate awareness to protect what's essential when everything else may be lost.
