In this post we talk to Sergio and Carolina , two siblings who are students in the first and second year respectively of the Degree in Software Development Engineering.

How did you get to know IMMUNE?

SergioI knew I wanted to study something related to computer engineering or something similar.

I went to a university fair and there I met IMMUNE. In this case there was Alan, the academic director, who explained to me what the educational system was like that I would be studying at IMMUNE and I loved it.

Besides, my sister was already studying here, so she already knew a bit about IMMUNE.

Why did you decide to study Software Engineering?

CarolinaRight now it is a sector that is really highly valued and very necessary as everything is going digital in general. Moreover, with the emergence of AI, the technology sector is booming.

I knew that I wanted to study something related to the subject, and seeing the IMMUNE education system, which is very practical and close to the world of work, I decided to study here.

SergioWell, since I was little I've always been into computers and mobiles and all that. I've always liked computers.

But above all, what I like are the job opportunities that exist today in this sector, which are very broad. You have the possibility of going abroad and the ease of working remotely.

How is your experience at IMMUNE going?

SergioSo far it's been a good experience, especially with the other students. Everyone on campus has been great, they have welcomed us with a lot of affection.

CarolinaYes, likewise, the working environment is very cool, it's so practical that in the end you share a lot of life with your colleagues. You all know each other and in the end it's a much more familiar atmosphere.

The campus is also very cool and in the end you always have more contact with the teachers and fellow students as there are not many of us.

What do you think of IMMUNE's methodology?

SergioI think the methodology is the most important thing here. We are all tired of being pushed through the syllabus unnecessarily and having to study for an exam. It doesn't help because after a week we'll forget it.

I think it is more important to practice and objectivitywhich is what you're really going to need in a job, and that's what is done here.

CarolinaI'm of the same opinion, because in the end when you go to a job they are not going to test whether you know theory or not, but they are going to ask you face challenges And that is what we are doing all the time in every subject: facing problems that we have to solve by ourselves.

In addition, everything is geared towards learning new technologies and I don't think there is any kind of useless syllabus. This way we can see what we can orient ourselves towards and that helps us to have a much clearer idea of the path we want to follow when we finish our degree.

What do you think of IMMUNE teachers?

CarolinaThere is a variety of teachers, each one has their own methodology and curriculum, but in general I am very happy.

They all follow a very practical methodology, although clearly there is also a theoretical part that in the end you have to understand in order to be able to face challenges. You always have to start from a base and in that sense it is quite good.

What project are you developing?

SergioWell, now we are facing the challenge of the final project of the course, which in our case we are doing a casino and it is quite complicated. But well, little by little we are overcoming our objectives by date and I think it's going to turn out quite well in the end, despite all the inconveniences we are having.

I think this is one of the biggest challenges we are facing in this first year.

Carolina: I also think that the Final Project is a more demanding project.

Maybe you have to apply new technologies that you haven't developed much during the course and in the end you have to do it more on your own. A total challenge.

How is the relationship with your colleagues?

Sergio: I think it's a good class and I'm generally happy with my classmates.

Carolina: I'm pretty good too. In the end, it's an environment that forces you to work.

In the projects, the groups are often random and you have to work with whoever you are assigned to. Obviously you always have more or less feeling but at the end of the day, working with everyone also makes you get to know them a little better and makes everything much more familiar.

What is the IMMUNE campus like?

CarolinaThe location is very good, we are right in the centre of Madrid. We are surrounded by people who are dedicated to what we do and the inside of the campus is very cool.

We have a lot of entertainment. The breaks never get boring because you have table football, table tennis, mini-golf, you can scooter around the campus if you want.

It's something that makes coming to university not feel like a punishment.

SergioI think the same. The location is very good, we are basically in the centre of Madrid, in the heart of Castellana and above all the transport links to get to this place.

There is not just, for example, one metro line but you have quite a few options to get here and that also makes it much easier to get here.

What is the relationship with companies like?

SergioThe contact with the companies is quite good as they give us a wide range of offers when you finish your third year.

Well, in my case I don't know because I haven't arrived yet, but we have already made several visits to various companies and, above all, they bring many different companies to the campus to give us talks and guide us in the sector that we like the most.

CarolinaWell, I'm of the same opinion. Communication with companies is quite good. We have been in top companies such as Google that gives you the vision of what life is really like working in our field.

We have experienced many testimonies and in the end that also guides you a little bit, especially in the speciality you want once you have finished your studies here.

Would you recommend studying at IMMUNE?

SergioI would recommend it, especially if you want to work in IT and so on, because, as we said before, it is based on practice, which I think is what attracts the most attention, to be honest.

Carolina: I would also recommend it because it is what I said before, it makes you experience what you are really going to face in the future; facing challenges, living with people.... And it gives you a lot of experience of the world of business.

They also give you a lot of advice on what life in a company is really like.
