The arrival of new generations and Artificial Intelligence has led to drastic changes in the labour market. As a result, jobs have been created for very specific new professionals who are not easily found: STEM profiles. For those who are not yet aware, these profiles relate to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Experts in these disciplines are even being sought abroad due to the low demand for these types of degree courses in our country. In fact, academic institutions are warning of a 3.5% decline in these disciplines over the coming years. To be specific, the number of graduates will fall from over 69,000 to around 57,000 by 2021.
One of the myths that is most worrying workers regarding the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence into the market is job destruction. We had already discussed this in previous posts, but what could be the real impact of this incorporation? Apparently, it will be more positive than imagined for the moment. Several studies affirm that with the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence into the labour market, a large number of jobs will be created. To be exact, around 1,250,000 will be created, of which 590,000 would be for STEM profiles.
To avoid having to recruit workers from other markets, thousands of Spanish companies are now investing in the sponsorship model. Thanks to this, they offer in-house micro-courses or provide external support to educational institutions. The objective? To train their own future workforce. Furthermore, the training of these workers proves to be more successful and faster.
