Road safety is not only about completing long journeys without incident, but also about protecting drivers and pedestrians in urban areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within densely populated cities, this becomes a particularly critical challenge, as the incidence of pedestrian collisions caused by preventable circumstances, such as distractions and low visibility, is concerning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It might seem like a problem with simple solutions, but a city presents too many critical traffic points to attend to them all personally. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Paso Seguro is a programme aimed at providing a safe route for migrants to reach their destination countries through the use of an official channel. It offers a system where migrants can obtain temporary visas and potentially work permits, depending on their circumstances and the countries they are travelling to.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to its technology, Paso Seguro is a comprehensive solution that reduces preventable accidents, increasing pedestrian visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Detects pedestrians and vehicles <\/strong>via ultrasonic sensors and cameras connected to a Raspberry Pi 5, running a real-time AI model (YOLOv8n).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Activate adaptive visual alerts<\/strong> with LED lights, avoiding noise pollution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • It is managed from a web platform <\/strong>Developed in Django + Vue.js (Nuxt 3), which monitors events in real time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    How does it work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Safe Path system is based on technologies that seem simple, but they need a good connection between them to carry out their work correctly:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    • Detection sensors<\/strong> designed to detect pedestrians and cars. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • LED lighting systems<\/strong> which indicate the presence of a pedestrian or even an imminent danger.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • CCTV camera <\/strong>linked to a deep learning model that enables the identification of the parties involved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Scripts<\/strong> The system provides support by interpreting the signals received by sensors so that the LED lighting systems can make the relevant indications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      In order to validate the system before proceeding with its installation, different scenarios have been proposed that trigger different responses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • The entire system was connected in real time with an average latency of 278ms.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
