STEM education and its workforce seems to be led by men, but there is a leading force claiming its place in the history of science, and one that is needed today more than ever: women. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to the study by <\/span>Global Gender Gap Report 2021<\/span><\/a> According to the World Economic Forum, only 17% of women are enrolled in university studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are seven initiatives whose mission is to increase this percentage, to make women who are leaders in the sector more visible, and to fight so that in the future, women in the sector will be able to <\/span>STEM break the gender gap. <\/b><\/p>\n

INTERNATIONAL EFFORTS<\/b><\/h2>\n

  1. The Search Foundation<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Created by the first African-American woman to earn a PhD in Physics from Yale University.<\/span> Jedidah Isler<\/span><\/a> The initiative is fighting for women to have their place in STEAM through this initiative, <\/span>The Search Foundation<\/span><\/a>in which she develops a series of talks with women focused on STEM subjects. Her goal: to achieve social justice in the USA through the use of science and technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Girls in Tech<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Created by<\/span> Adriana Gascoigne<\/span><\/a>with a degree in <\/span>Sociology and Economics,<\/b> Girls in Tech<\/span><\/a> is a non-profit organisation, of which she is also the CEO. This organisation helps to educate and <\/span>empowering women's talent in the field of new technologies<\/b>. Gascoigne's CV is splendid and his positions include: VP of Marketing at SecondMarket; CMO of QwikCart, an online shopping startup, as well as advisor to technology companies.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Girls Who Code<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Girls Who Code<\/span><\/a>the organisation that fights to prevent the gender gap in technology around the world, is the brainchild of<\/span> Reshma Saujani<\/span><\/a>. A lawyer and activist, she was the first Indian American woman to run for Congress.<\/span><\/p>\n

        It was his campaign that got him started <\/span>Girls Who Code<\/b>She is also a member of the International Women's Engineering Council (IWEC), to encourage women in engineering. As such, Saujani leads campuses and conferences, as well as writing several books to help girls and women find their place in the world of engineering. <\/span>digital world and programming.<\/b><\/p>\n

        1. TechBridge<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Techbridge<\/span><\/a> seeks to inspire and<\/span> introducing girls to STEM.<\/b> Created by<\/span> Linda Kekelis<\/span><\/a>The project not only works with them, but also with their family members or teachers, who also have an important role to play in ending the <\/span>gender gap<\/b> in this education. Linda Kekelis has a PhD in Special Education and studies in Linguistics.<\/span><\/p>\n

          SPANISH INITIATIVES<\/b><\/h2>\n

          1. IMMUNE Dialogues | IMMUNE Technology Institute<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            IMMUNE Dialogues was born as the initiative of<\/span> Monica Villas<\/span><\/a> e<\/span> IMMUNE Technology Institute<\/span><\/a>to share <\/span>experiences of<\/b> inspirational WOMEN <\/b>and thus support diversity and gender equality in the world of technology and its labour market. As a monthly event, both face-to-face and online, it brings together women from different generations and levels of experience with a common passion: <\/span>Technology and the future<\/b>. You can see all the events on his channel<\/span> Youtube<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

            1. Tech Women<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Tech Women<\/span><\/a> is a non-profit association created in early 2015 with the aim of giving visibility to women in the digital sector, promoting scientific and technological vocations among young women, and serving as a platform to establish a network among women professionals in the sector in Spain. Founded by<\/span> Cristina Aranda<\/span><\/a> y<\/span> Sara Alvarellos<\/span><\/a>is already a reference in continuous growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

              1. Inspire Steam<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Inspire Steam<\/span><\/a> is a project for the promotion of scientific-technological vocation among girls, based on awareness-raising and guidance actions, given by professional women from the world of research, science and technology. The heart of the project is mentoring, whereby the mentors, on a voluntary basis, bring their day-to-day lives closer to girls through 6 work sessions during school hours.
