Whereas some think electronic devices can be very helpful, others think that impede learning of the students.

To break down the myths that arise in this field, more events and informative fairs are being held on the use of technology in education. One of these examples is SIMO Education. For three days, teachers, students and families can visit stands, attend round tables and talks that will help us understand the real objective of applying technology in education. SIMO Education Innova was presented at the fair with the aim of highlighting the most relevant contributions in the educational field. In this edition, a total of 20 cutting-edge products.

To achieve this, the jury has based its decision on criteria of novelty, technological advancement, new educational methodologies, and improvements in aspects such as functionality, usability, and design. Of these proposals, our favourites are from ALLNET: “Brick'R'Knowledge”and EDEBE“Amigo”. While ALLNET's proposal consists of an electronic kit with which bricks can be interconnected to create circuits and programmed through open-source code, EDEBE's is an immersive environment for Primary and Secondary education that will facilitate the use of student-centred methodologies and personalised learning environments.

But what does personalised learning consist of? It's very simple. Offering each student a study plan adapted to the knowledge and skills they possess and that allows them to acquire those they don't. This plan should focus on their strengths and, at the same time, require them to work on their difficulties, carrying out constant assessment of students as well. Their progress will be what marks the path forward, paying attention to the points where students need it most.

Microsoft has played its part in this field, creating several tools focused on the different needs of students. As Ainhoa Marcos, Director of Public Education at Microsoft, explains: La Vanguardia newspaper, The company's objective was to “cater to the diverse profiles of students”, with an emphasis on those with “special needs”. Thus, they have developed dictation tools for those unable to write, message decoding and comprehension tools for students with dyslexia, and a simultaneous translator.

For its part, Google divides its solutions into those for primary and secondary education and those for higher education. In addition to creating the Chromebooks and special applications for use in the school environment, Google has applied G Suite to the educational sphere. Thanks to its different tools, teachers can now manage their classes with greater ease. For example, they can create classes, distribute and mark homework; edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations collaboratively and in real time; communicate in multiple ways…

Both the way we educate and education itself are changing. The future has arrived and it comes hand-in-hand with technology. At IMMUNE, we are prepared.
